Major Awards and Honors

A constant presence at Vickery Meadows, Jill Stone was a woman who volunteered her time and effort in order to establish new programs and a stronger school community. A partial list of her many contributions includes the HOST program, tutoring for students with difficulties in reading, helping develop parent nutrition eduaction programs, organizing a food pantry and a coat drive for the students of Vickery Meadow, and the Fun Saturday program.

In June of 2005, in recognition of her many contributions to Vickery Meadows Elementary School, the Board of Trustees voted to rename the school Jill Stone Elementary School at Vickery Meadow. Even after her death in 2004, Stone's work continues through the programs she helped develop and in the hearts of everyone whose lives she touched.
