Programs and Activities

Special programs:
AP courses offered to students through the Academic Center; Executive Student Board (comprised of student representatives from each school) JROTC

After-school programs:
Students stay for tutoring until 5:15 p.m., Monday-Thursday. Activity buses transport students home.

Extracurricular activities:
Renowned Big "D" Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, Townview Orchestra, Townview Choir, Townview Folklorico, Townview Steppers

Parent Involvement

Band Booster organization, Drama Booster organization, Choir Booster organization,

Parents are welcome to volunteer at any time.

Major Awards and Honors

The Big "D" Marching Band has competed in several Battle of the Bands competitions and has received Exemplary ratings. The band has been selected to attend the Nokia Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl, and All American Bowl.


The magnet center is named for Dr. Yvonne A. Ewell, a former school board member and visionary who brought the concept of this magnet center to fruition.
