Major Awards and Honors

Recognized Campus 2008, State Art Award: Melissa Jimenez,

The campus was named for Eladio R. Martinez, a World War II veteran and West Dallas resident. After completing basic military training, Martinez became part of the 33rd Infantry division. He lost his life in Luzon in the Philippines on March 23, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. During the summer of 1990, the learning center administration and staff chose to honor Eladio's association with the United States Army by selecting red and blue as the center's colors, the historical eagle as the school mascot, and SUCCESS HAS NO LIMITS as the school motto.
