Julius Dorsey was born July 17, 1876, in New Albany, Miss. He graduated from high school in 1896 in Kaufman, Texas, and attended George Peabody College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (1916) and a Master of Arts (1920). His emphasis on educational administration was child centered, and he gave lively support to subjects, such as art, music, homemaking. Dorsey served as superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District for five years, retiring in August of 1945.
