Programs and Activities

Special programs:
FAMILY NIGHT is held every year in the fall and spring. Parents accompany their children for an evening of hands-on activities that review TEKS-based objectives relevant to their grade level. Parents and students move from classroom to classroom enjoying the challenging activities. The evening ends with a family dinner in our cafeteria. Past themes have included Circus Circus and Wild Wild West! .... AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH and CINCO DE MAYO observances are recognized and honored. For each, we spend a week celebrating through daily P.A. quizzes for students and staff highlighting famous people or accomplishments, special bulletin boards, school assemblies, speakers, native dance ensemble programs. and food celebrations.

Academic Tutoring: Tuesday-Thursday beginning the second six weeks of the school year; Saturday School: January-April

John Ireland was governor of Texas from January 16, 1883, to January 18, 1887. He was born in Kentucky, where he earned a law degree. He moved to Sequin, Texas, in 1853. Governor Ireland served as a lieutenant colonel in the Confederate Army. He is best remembered for shepherding public land sale auctions to the highest bidder, with proceeds going into permanent funds for public schools, state universities, and state institutions.
