Major Awards and Honors

San Jacinto was awarded an American Airlines grant in fall 2005 to fund a mural project, "Beautiful Biomes."

San Jacinto originally was located at the intersection of Ross and San Jacinto, where the DISD administration building is today. When the school was changed from a private to a public school, it took its name from the street it was on. Some say the original school was founded in the mid- to late 1800s. Eventually San Jacinto Elementary was relocated to Pleasant Grove, where it recently celebrated its fiftieth anniversary.
