By tradition, all schools in Seagoville bear the Seagoville name. The town and schools are named for the town's founder, T.K. Seago, who built a general store there in 1876. The town originally was named Seago, but the name was changed in 1910 to Seagoville. The current building was constructed in 1986. The original elementary school was built in 1910 and is still standing. The Historical Commission is planning to preserve it as an historical meeting place.
