Edward Titche was a philanthropist and cofounder of one of the largest department stores in Texas. He was born on Aug. 6, 1866, in Winnsboro, La. Titche was an original member of the Citizen's Charter Association and he served as vice president of the Dallas Scottish Rite Hospital for Crippled Children. Titche was the second life member of the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers and he became a charter trustee of the Dallas Historical Society. When he died on Feb. 11, 1944, flags were flown at half-staff at the Hall of State in Fair Park, home of the Dallas Historical Society.
