Major Awards and Honors

B. F. Darrell was named a "Recognized" school by TEA for academic achievement.


Benjamin Franklin Darrell was a teacher of mathematics. He was a well respected member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he sang in the choir. He was extremely positive, a strict disciplinarian, and adhered to his convictions. Darrell served as principal of Darrell school when it was a high school. At one time, Darrell was consisdered the largest African American school in the city and state.
