 Recognition of Accomplishment

  • Dallas Urban Debate Team~ #1 for 2011-2012 results! About 95 teams and 190 speakers competed at the tournament. It was our largest tournament ever.
    • Destin Germany - Top JV speaker award (#1)
    • Destin Germany and Shaquille Jones - 3rd Place JV Team
    • Talitha Salinas - #11 Novice Speaker
    • Benito Ramirez - #20 Novice Speaker

 

  • Head of Class– Shaquille Joneswas featured on the front page of theDallas Morning News Sports pagetoday! Read all about it! He plays football at Molina and attends Garza Early College High School. The focus on the article is about his academic focus and how that relates to his athletics. He is an awesome young man who works hard AND is a role model for underclassmen.

 

  • Daisy Rodriguez was ELECTED as the Student Government Treasurer for Mountain View College – where there are 9000 students! Congrats on your election!
             1.     Hispanic Heritage Month ~ Please check the MVC schedules. Raul Magdaleno will give a speech on Integrity
                     Leadership
on  September 29 at 12:30 in S1029-1030.  .

2.     PTSA ~The class who has the highest number of students joining the PTSA will have an ice cream social at the end of September.Seniors who join will receive a blue and white cord at graduation.

3.     STUDENT SIGNATURES ~ Student MUST have the following parent/student signature pages on file:

  •             Student Code of Conduct AND Student Handbook
  •          Free and Reduced Lunch forms
  •          Enrollment Forms (due EVERY year)
  •          Video release forms (so you can be filmed/photographed)

4.     Senior Meeting ~ There is a senior assembly at 3:30 pm on Friday, September 30, 2011. Be there so you can learn about Mountain.

5.     Hynotik Force ~ Have a thing for dance?  Come try out for our dance crew.  There are 3 spots to freshmen and sophomores.  Meeting will be in the cafeteria on Monday, October 3rd at 4:05 p.m.  Practice schedules, pep rally, clothing, and any other questions will be addressed.

6.     Nuts and Bolts ~

·        No card playing in the cafeteria except at lunch time.

·        Remember there are NO “off” periods – if you do not have a class, that time is for study, library work or collaborative work. You can get a pass to the Computer Lab or Library from Mr. Montgomery.

·        Dress Code –Hoodies must be zippered/button up or ECHS. No cover-up for the uniform logo! 

Notes from the Principal:   Garza ECHS students are AWESOME! If you “do right”, the light will shine on you!  Way to GO Garza!!!
