Congratulationsto Luz Aranda for winning a medal for Molina HS in cross country! We have talented, smart, AND athletic students at Garza ECHS. Also, Mr. OConner was recognized at Texas Instruments on Tuesday as being the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Teacher of the Year. He won $10,000 ~ $5,000 for himself and $5,000 for the school! Way to go!

1.     College Fair~ Great job juniors, seniors and staff! You all represented our school well!

2.     MVC Spirit Week~ Surprise, surprise, surprise! Next week will be an opportunity for you to have some fun. 

·        On Monday, it is SHOW YOUR SCHOOL COLORS DAY. You can go to the Student Life office in the S building and get a punch card to participate in Spirit week all IF YOU HAVE YOUR ECHS uniform on. If you are a senior, you must dress in blue and yellow to get a punch card.

·        On Tuesday, it is CRAZY HAT DAY. Everyone can wear a hat with no consequences! Get your card punched.

·        On Wednesday, it is TWIN DAY.  You must wear your uniform if you are in grade 9 – 11 and be creative to make yourself a twin with someone else. Get your card punched.

·        On Thursday, it is CRAZY SOCK DAY. Wear your crazy socks. Get your card punched.

·        On Friday, it is GREEN DAY. Show your “Go Green” spirit! Wear green! No uniform (dress code is still required) but must wear green. Get your card punched.

3.     Hispanic Heritage Month~ Please check the MVC schedules. There are many speakers who will be here includingRory Kennedy, Robert Kennedy’s daughter. Raul Magdaleno will give a speech onIntegrity Leadershipon September 29 at 12:30 in S1029-1030.

4.     PTSA ~The class that has the highest number of students joining the PTSA will have an ice cream social at the end of September.September 20 is the PTSA Meeting at 6:00 pm in W181.

5.     National Honor Society (NHS)~ A message from the President, Alondra Rangel ~ There will be a NHS meeting September 23 from 4:10 – 4:50 pm in Mr. OConner’s Room W23. This meeting is mandatory for all NHS members. Any students from 10^th– 12the grades who are interested in joining NHS are welcome to Come

6.     Some students have been identified to attend a PSAT boot camp on Saturday. Be there!

7.     Eco-Tip: Recycled Content: Ask your local retailers to stock more products made from recycled materials and buy products made from the highest recycled content whenever possible.
