STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

September 8, 2011

Congratulations to Angela Avila! She is attending the Rotary Club-Dallas Entrepreneurship Camp on Thursday and Friday! She was selected from all the applicants who submitted extensive applications. Also, Way to go Freshmen and Sophomores on following Garza ECHS dress code!

1.     College Fair~ Seniors and juniors have been invited to the College Fair at the Dallas Convention Center next week. We will have two buses leaving our campus with chaperones; it will be an exciting time to visit and see recruiters from various colleges!

2.     Trini Garza’s Birthday ~ On September 22, we will celebrate Trini Garza’s 85thbirthday. He is the community leader for whom this school was named. Find out about him!

3.     Juniors Dress Code ~The majority of students who are still not following our dress code at Garza ECHS are the class of 2013. Jeans………no logo on shirts……..all of these things will be considered when making a decision about the PRIVILEGE of your senior year out of uniform! Remember that the past senior classes have followed the rules and have earned the privilege of being in dress code but out of uniform. At the rate that the junior class is going, they will be in uniform as SENIORS!

4.     Called JUNIOR CLASS MEETING ~ This Friday at 3:00 pm, the Class of 2013 (juniors) will meet at a called meeting. Watch for posters about the location.

5.     Computer labs ~ Remember that the computer labs and library belong to Mountain View College. You must have a pass from Mr. Montgomery in order to visit these sites. Please see him or if he is not available, see Ms. Moore to sign out for a pass. Also, there is no GAMING on the college computers; there are 9,000 students registered here this semester and there are a finite number of computers. No time to waste on gaming!

6.     Friday Night Bites ~ Yes, it has been reconstituted. Mr. Keller will be in charge of FNB this week. NO PHONES, NO LAPTOPS, NO IPODS, NO MUSIC. Those of you out of uniform are expected to attend. IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND AND YOUR NAME IS ON THE LIST FOR FNB, YOU WILL BE PLACED IN THE DISCIPLINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR DISD! No kidding! You will have a record!

7.     Notes from the Principal:   Garza ECHS students are LAW-ABIDING! Everyone has an authority figure to whom they are accountable. As students, you are accountable to your parents, your teachers, your principal and the college community. Don’t forget it!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lombardi
