 Recognition of Accomplishment

·        Gwen Matthews was selected by Mountain View College to meet President Obama and she sat behind him at his speech at Eastfield College! This was a once–in-a-lifetime experience!

·        Elena Miranda is the first senior to be accepted to a four year university. YEAH!

·        Garza ECHS has a WEBSITE now! It is www.dallasisd.org/garza. You can access it for calendar information and announcements! Use it and tell your parents!

·        SURPRISE! The Texas Rangers won their division title. Garza ECHS will celebrate and show their support by wearing jeans and a Rangers shirt (or red shirt) this Friday,October 7. This is for EVERYONE ~ teachers and students. Go Rangers!

1.     Hispanic Heritage Month~ Please check the MVC schedules for festivities.

2.     Parent Conference Night is next Tuesday, October 11 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.Parents may come to the campus and visit with teachers and pick up report cards. Anyone who is failing two or more classes will have to have a scheduled conference. 

3.     College Book Study – The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks ~A conversationwith her family will be held from 11:00 to 12:10 pm on Thursday, October 7 in the MVC Performance Hall.

4.     STUDENT SIGNATURES~ Student MUST have the parent/student signature pages on file. We will be contacting you! Enrollment packets and free lunch applications are due!

5.     Junior Meeting~ There is a JUNIOR assembly at 3:30 pm on Friday, October 7, 2011. Be there so you can learn about Princeton Review and the MVC Office of Student Life.

6.     Blazer Daybegins for 9^thand 10^thgrade students on Wednesday, October 12. Pictures will be taken during second period for the website. You may wear your uniform shirt under the blazer or a white collared shirt.

7.     Fair Day ticketswill be distributed on Wednesday, October 12 and Thursday, October 13 by Ms. Moore. Please sign for your ticket.

8.     Mandatory Tutoring~ Please be aware that there are mandatory tutoring times for all 10^thgraders. You MUST attend in order to be prepared for your tests!

9.     Costume Party– NHS is sponsoring a costume party on Friday, October 28 from 6:00 – 10:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased from Ms. Moore or Mr. O’Connor. The cost is $8 for one and $20 for three.

10. NHS will have meeting this Friday at 4:10 pm in Mr. O’Connor’s Room. Be there!

11. Facebook ~ Be very careful what you post on Facebook! Cyberbullying is a crime! When you post, you must remember that they don’t call it the worldwide web for nothing! College recruiters look at FB, police look at FB! Represent yourself and your school well!

12. Nuts and Bolts ~

·        MVC Chess Club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursday. Check bulletin boards for time.
