Recognition of Accomplishment

1. On December 9, 2011 in the Mountain View Performance Hall, several Garza ECHS students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society during the Omega Omega Chapter of Mountain View College’s induction ceremony. Students inducted include Angela Avila, Felonie Doss, Valeria Gonzalez, Erick Solis, and Monica Solis.

2. Ke’borsha Rusk was highlighted in the Oak Cliff newspaper as a “Good Kid”.  This is always a great way to showcase our students.  Way to go! 

3. 100% of our seniors have applied to College!  Thanks, Mr. Montgomery and Ms. A (Princeton Review)!

4. It is an honor for our school to be selected as a FINALIST in the Excellence in Urban Education award.  Way to go, TEAM! We will have guests in our building on January 30.  I expect all 9^th, 10^th, and 11^th grade students in dress code and your usual good behavior on that date!

5. College Classes – Please see Mr. Montgomery for your college class OR check your econnect account.  MVC and Garza ECHS have collaborated to recommend college classes for you.  In some cases, if you failed a class/classes, last semester, you were removed from college classes.  Please note that you must check your schedule ASAP and let Mr. Montgomery know of ANY issues that may have occurred!

Tuesday, January 17 is a non DISD school day but you must attend college classes at MVC if you are enrolled!  DISD classes start on Wednesday, January 18.

6. Buy Back Time ~ Please make sure that you have followed Mr. Pierce’s instructions and timeline regarding buy back time and earning credit.

7. Awards ~ Awards Ceremony is January 26 at 2:30 pm.  Plan AHEAD!

8. School Board Recognition Month ~ Now would be a great time to contact our School Board member, Eric Cowan, to tell him how much we appreciate his support.

9. Eco- Tip:  Mr. Keller is part of the Green Team here at Mountain View College.  He will be sharing tips with us on Sustainability as we works with the college.
