• General Information

    Dr. Barbara Jordan Elementary School is located in the heart of the Oak Cliff community. Our school motto is "Where Dreams Become Reality and Excellence is Expected." The staff, parents, and community seek to nurture and promote productive students in a safe and secure learning environment.
     
    The grade configuration is Pre-Kindergarden 3 through Fifth grade. Jordan has approximately 450 students and 30 teachers. Jordan has Dual Language, basic reading, math, science, art, music, physical education, a (TAG) Talented and Gifted program, bilingual education and a 3rd-5th grade Total Communication Special Education unit.
     
    Special activities at Barbara Jordan Elementary include: Fall into Literacy Family Fun Night, Math and Science Family Night, Meet the Teacher Night, Bring Your Parents to School Day, Coffee and Conversation, and Gratitude for Grandparents' Day. Academic programs include University Interscholastic League (UIL), Lone Star Challenge, Destination Imagination and Robotics competitions.  In 2005, our school held its first annual Community Walk. In 2010, the annual community walk was combined with a health fair to promote wellness.
     
    At Dr. Barbara Jordan Elementary School, it is our goal to bond with parents and the community through active PTO, Title l and Site-Based Decision-Making meetings.
