Dr. Ortiz Espinell
Principal
Sheila Ortiz Espinell has 29 years of experience in education. As a classroom teacher, she taught ESL in grades K-6 in Puerto Rico. As a principal, she led for 5 years at Francisco Roque Elementary in Puerto Rico. In 2005, Mrs. Ortiz relocated with her family to Dallas, Texas. She went on to work as a bilingual teacher in Dallas ISD for 6 years. In 2010, she was selected "Teacher of the Year" at Thomas Tolbert Elementary. In 2013, Mrs. Ortiz joined the Dallas ISD Leadership Program, the Fellows Academy. This experience enriched her knowledge and prepared her to be an Assistant Principal at Moises E. Molina High School.
Since 2015, Mrs. Ortiz has been the principal at Gabe P. Allen New Tech Academy. After her first year at Allen, the school was removed from the "Improvement Required" status. With the support of the staff and the community, Mrs. Ortiz turned around the school’s climate. Mrs. Ortiz is a professional of action and shared knowledge. She believes that all students can achieve. As an effective leader, she promotes a challenging atmosphere for learning in which the staff and faculty are committed to excellence in educating and preparing students for their future contributions to society.

Mr. Gutierrez
Assistant Principal
Mr. Gutierrez is proud to be an Allen Eagle and the Assistant Principal at Gabe P. Allen New Tech Academy.
Before moving to Dallas in 2019, Mr. Gutierrez spent most of his life growing up in the San Antonio area, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Public Relations from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2017. He earned his Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University in 2021. In the summer of 2023, Mr. G began working on his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at Lamar University.
Before coming to Allen, he taught 8th Grade Reading and English 4 in Harlandale ISD and English 1 Irving ISD; while in Irving, he has also served as a Team Lead and Department Chair.
Mr. Gutierrez believes in working rigorously, collaborating equitably, showcasing compassion, and prioritizing empathy to reach high levels of success for all stakeholders.
When he isn’t working, you can catch Mr. G hanging out with his two cats, Nile and Pickles, curled up reading a good book, going for a run, or watching reality television.
