Mrs. Julie Valverde B.S., MS.Ed.
Mrs. Valverde, aka Mrs. V, holds a teacher’s certificate for secondary mathematics (grades 7-12). She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Texas Woman’s University and her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in mathematics from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. As a former social worker, Mrs. Valverde is dedicated to closing the achievement gap through equitable pedagogies and culturally responsive teaching practices. Empathy, critical thinking, a hunger for knowledge are three of the values that Mrs. Valverde strives to instill in her students every day. She herself being a lifelong learner is always in search of professional development opportunities. Mrs. V is a staunch advocator of post-secondary education! She believes all students have the capacity to continue their education after high school. It is for this reason that she has high expectations for all students and is wholeheartedly committed to assisting all students in their educational endeavors.
Mrs. V will be teaching Precalculus and AP Calculus AB for the 2020-2021 school year. If you will be taking AP Calculus this fall, please contact her for an optional (but important) summer assignment reviewing algebra and precalculus. The assignment will also post the summer assignment on this website.
