Teresa Hernandez is a proud alumnus of DallasISD. She started her teaching career after graduating from Southern Methodist University in 2005. She has served as a teacher, an instructional coach, an assistant principal and principal. Ms. Hernandez has been the principal at Bethune Elementary since 2014. Her entire career has been serving the students and parents of DallasISD.
Ms. Hernandez is a first-generation college graduate. She comes from a modest large family of seven. Her hard-working parents were immigrants from Mexico with strong beliefs and values in education. She earned her undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and her graduate degree from The University of North Texas. She believes education is the great equalizer and the key to change the world.
Ms. Hernandez values hard-work, perseverance, and relationships. She believes it is essential to instill a passion and love for reading and learning. She holds herself to high standards of excellence and always seeks ways to build upon the work at hand. The core of her work includes improving the quality of instruction by retaining highly qualified teachers, increasing student achievement for all students and developing strong partnerships with parents and the community.
During her free time, Ms. Hernandez loves to spend time with her family and enjoys helping others.
