Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)

  • Students

  • Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) provides educational and related services, at no cost to parents, for children ages 3 to 5 with identified disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B, Section 619. Services to be provided in the least restrictive environment (LRE) in accordance with their individual needs.  Eligible students can begin receiving special services on their third birthday, regardless of when the birthday falls within the school year.

ECSE classes are located on select campuses throughout Dallas ISD and bus transportation is available for eligible students.

** If you have concerns that your child may require special education services BUT has not yet received a comprehensive evaluation completed by a local public agency such as a public school district or charter school, please contact the Dallas ISD Child Find Program to begin the referral and evaluation process.
