HB5 Local Accountability Ratings/Community and Student Engagement

  • The passage of House Bill 5 (HB 5) of the 83rd Texas Legislature Regular Session added a section to the Texas Education Code (TEC). The new TEC § 39.0545 established a provision for school districts to evaluate their own performance in community and student engagement at the district level and also at the individual campus level. Under House Bill 5, each district is required to evaluate the district’s performance and the performance of each campus in the district on community and student engagement (8 domains) and in policy compliance (1 factor).
