Derek Lewis enters his first season as Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach for the Pinkston Vikings. Lewis comes to Dallas ISD from Benjamin Davis High School where he served as the Special Teams Coordinator & Associate Head Coach. Lewis is a seasoned football coach having served as a collegiate assistant for ten years. He served as an offensive assistant at Air Force, Florida, Minnesota, North Texas, and at Texas as a graduate assistant when the Longhorns won the 2005 National Championship game. Lewis was a player for the National Football League. He spent two seasons as a member of the St. Louis Rams (1999-2001) and was part of the Super Bowl XXXIV Championship Team.

In 2004, Lewis earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas. He is a native of New Orleans, LA. He and his wife, Adonis, have one son, Myles.
