Why Compass Apply Now
Learn In The Schools Where You'll Teach
Our training isn’t about helping you serve some students somewhere; it’s about helping you serve our students, right here in Dallas. You’ll participate in an intensive pre-service training program, followed by a year-long internship leading your own classroom in Dallas ISD. Along the way, you’ll learn from the district’s top teachers, and receive personalized coaching on the practical skills you’ll need to be a great teacher in Dallas. Those who successfully complete the program will receive a teaching certificate and a guaranteed offer to teach full-time in one of our schools.

A Focus On Bilingual Education
We want our students to learn from teachers who reflect the diversity of our community. Those who speak our students’ languages and share their cultures bring tremendous value to the district—which is why more than half of the teachers we train are bilingual. Compass provides bilingual teachers with a training experience, and eventually a teaching experience, enriched with the joy that comes from serving their community in ways that others just can’t.

We Set High Expectations- And Help You Meet Them
Teaching in Dallas is for those who have set high expectations in their careers and are ready to continue with that same outlook in the classroom. At Compass, our program teaches you skills that will give you the confidence to be an effective teacher as soon as they enter the classroom. It’s for those with courage, compassion, and a proven ability to prepare our students to be college and career ready.  Over time, you’ll build a rich career that you can be proud of—a career marked by countless stories of children whose lives changed because of you.

A Comprehensive Teacher Effectiveness System
The Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI), the district’s teacher evaluation system, provides the backbone for our program. Our goal is to develop your skills to prepare you for success. TEI looks at defining and evaluating excellence through three lenses: performance, student achievement and student surveys.  Read more here (this link takes you outside of the COMPASS page).
