    In July of 2013, Kirk Kaps was named the Athletic Trainer for Conrad High School. Kaps was part of a select few who were initially hired on at Dallas ISD as campus athletic trainers to provide medical coverage to our student-athletes. He’s a proponent of athlete safety and accountability with the student-athletes and his peers. Kaps is a product of Holcomb High School, located in Southwest Kansas where he graduated in 2004. During his time at Holcomb High, Kaps excelled in football, basketball, baseball & track where he won a state championship in the 4x100m relay. Kaps received an athletic scholarship to play football at Dodge City Community College before he decided to concentrate on becoming an athletic trainer.

    During his time at Dodge City Community College and Garden City Community College, he was awarded the Dean’s List certificate, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges Award, sworn into Phi Theta Kappa & graduated with honors from GCCC. While at Fort Hays State University, he was again awarded the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges Award & sworn into Phi Epsilon Kappa while attaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Science – Athletic Training. Kaps began his athletic training career with an internship with the Denver Broncos in 2009 while finishing his Bachelor’s degree at Fort Hays State University. Once he graduated he attended Sacramento State University, where he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the football and baseball teams. Although, his career at Sacramento State was short lived he accepted a position in Birmingham, Alabama with world renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews & Physical Therapist Kevin Wilk working as an Athletic Trainer for Champion Sports Medicine. While at Champion Sports Medicine, he attained his Master’s Degree in Science – Health & Human Performance and served as an athletic trainer to the local high schools. Since 2013, Kaps has served our local Dallas ISD student-athletes at Conrad as their athletic trainer on campus. Kaps is an advocate of student-athlete safety whether it be at practice, a game or during physical therapy. Kaps is also in the midst of starting a student athletic training program, which will coincide with the Health Science Academy on campus.

    Kaps is accompanied by two beautiful woman in his life, one being his fiancé Kelley Yother who’s from Waxahachie, TX and his daughter Khloe Kaps who was born in March of 2015. Yother is a local resident of the DFW-Area graduating from Guyer High School in 2007 and receiving an Associate’s Degree in Fashion & Marketing in 2009 from Wade College.
