"Carpentry and construction, HVAC, electrical and plumbing, all the things we need in our homes," shares CI North Director Jean Laswell. "We have aviation flight for those interested in becoming pilots. We have automotive technology. Our students are very, very fortunate because they can get started on a career before they even leave high school."
Our goal to change the landscape of urban education means more than just building schools. Since the completion of the Bond 2015 project, some athletic programs across the district have seen a significant increase in student participation and school spirit.
Public education is the most important infrastructure you can invest in. New schools, redesigned schools and upgraded and remodeled campuses, Dallas ISD is on a building boom using voter-approved Bond money to enhance, improve, and upgrade more than 200 campuses. There are new choice schools, reconfigured and updated high schools, a three-billion-dollar campaign to give Dallas ISD academic centers the same services found in schools in growing North Texas suburbs.
