Local and regional field trips are offered to enrich concepts taught in classrooms across the curriculum. Trips to the Environmental Educational Center in Seagoville are regular excursions that enable DESA students to explore the environment and the interaction among living things. Students develop skills of observation, application, and synthesis through real-world scenarios including exploring nature trails, gardening, and animal adaptations.
It is a DESA tradition for our eighth graders to go on an outdoor adventure at Glen Rose. Our students are immersed with outdoor activities at Glen Rose that allow them to connect their classroom knowledge to the great outdoors. For three days students actively participate in areas of science, mathematics, and technology while also engaging in environmental arts & crafts, hiking, canoeing, zip lining, and indoor rock climbing.
