Mrs. Cook
Yes we can! Yes we will! Teaching for the 21st century is hard work! It requires a personal commitment to excellence in education that extends beyond the classroom into communities, families and the future. My name is Felicia Cook and I am excited to join the stellar practitioners at the Two-Way Dual Language Talented and Gifted Academy as the Campus Instructional Coach. I believe that we can provide a unique learning experience that will position our students for greatness. I am confident that we can create a school culture that values collaboration and innovation. I have no doubt that we can implement a shared vision that will encourage teachers to excel.
Both of my parents were native Texans, and I was born and raised here in Dallas. I am an honor graduate of the Dallas Independent School District where I began my teaching career as a self-contained elementary teacher. Later, I earned my Masters’ degree in Professional Development from Dallas Baptist University with a concentration in Education. While in the classroom, I discovered a gift and a passion for mentoring and coaching other teachers. Subsequently, I was recruited by the Dallas County Community College District to coordinate training and development as part of its Continuing Education Program. In that role, I coordinated GED, ESOL and job training classes for students at the Mountain View and Cedar Valley College campuses. In 2012, I returned to Dallas ISD as a Campus Instructional Coach responsible for coordinating teacher development; leading professional learning communities; and supporting quality instruction in the classroom. Since returning, I have had the opportunity to serve as a content expert for Distinguished Teacher Review (DTR) observations; become a Project Based Learning (PBL) expert; and participate in the Teaching Trust Leadership Development program.
I am fortunate to have a loving family that understands and appreciates the life of an educator. My husband is a Band Director in DISD. We enjoy traveling and finding new ways to spoil our first grand-daughter, Belle.
