2020-21 is Mr. Peña’s first year at Preston Hollow Elementary, but has been in education since 1995. He was born and raised in Illinois and graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in BIlingual Education and a Masters Degree in Special Education. He is currently completing another Masters in Educational Leadership from Sul Ross University. Mr. Peña has two sons and two grandsons who keep him very busy. Mr. Peña enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and playing golf on his time off.
Mr. Garcia Virtual Classrom
Mr. Vashchenko has taught 3rd and 4th grade students at PHES since 2015 and is committed to providing the structure and organization students need to succeed in their future. He has been in charge of chess club, typing club, and debate club. His chess club students have won competitions at the district levels. Outside of the normal curriculum and I.B, he enjoys teaching his students about sustainable technologies in food supply chains. The Junior League of Dallas awarded him a grant to encourage the use of aeroponic systems to grow food. Mr. Vashchenko enjoys traveling and climbing, writing, and sharing food and time from around the world with family and friends.
