What is the Dallas County Promise?

The Dallas County Promise is a “last-dollar scholarship’” for students graduating from participating high schools. This means it will cover the gap between what your state and federal financial aid cover and the cost of tuition at a Promise Partner college.

All Promise Partner colleges promise to support and challenge you as you make your dreams a reality. All Promise Scholars will have a success coach to be your “go-to” person as you navigate your college experience.

Dallas County Community Colleges promise that if your financial aid doesn’t cover the cost of classes at a Dallas community college, then they will. This applies to all students who meet the Promise deadlines and qualify for in-state tuition, regardless of your GPA or your family’s income.

UNT Dallas promises automatic admission and covered tuition to UNT Dallas for all Promise scholars who maintain a 2.0 GPA in community college and complete an associate degree within three years. UNT Dallas also promises a last-dollar scholarship for students who earned their associate’s degree in high school and want to continue their education.

SMU promises to cover tuition and fees for students selected as Mustang Scholars. Students selected as Mustang Promise Scholars during their senior year of high school can start at a DCCCD school and then transfer to SMU with their last-dollar tuition and fees covered.

We all promise to continue to work hard to create more opportunities for all students like you to pursue education beyond high school.
