    Upcoming Professional Development Opportunities

  • Connecting Students to Nature with Nature Play

Join the STEM Environmental Education Center to learn about Nature Play and its academic, health, and social and emotional benefits. Many urban children may miss out on opportunities to explore nature, so why not bring nature to them? Learn ideas to incorporate natural items into academic content, centers, and playtime. Learn how the STEM Environmental Education Center created a Nature Playground and how its teachers have incorporated Nature Play into centers and lessons. Help foster student curiosity and respect for nature through engaging play! PK-2 teachers who attend this workshop will receive a FREE copy of the book ‘A Head Start on Science: Encouraging a Sense of Wonder, 2nd Ed.’ which includes 89 developmentally appropriate, teacher-tested activities in life, earth, and physical science. Additionally, teachers will create a make and take “nature play in a bag” filled with various curiosity sparking natural items.
