Ms. Jessica Banda

Mrs. Banda was born in the Windy City of Chicago. At a young age, her parents moved to Dallas in search of a new beginning and warmer climate. She comes from a diverse Mexican and Puerto Rican family and her strong family values keep her grounded. She’s a product of DallasISD schools and graduated from Skyline High School. She started her undergraduate studies at Eastfield College then transferred to the University of North Texas at Dallas. While studying, she started interning with the district’s Homeless Education Program while helping serve nearly 4,000 homeless and transient students and their families with school enrollment, essential survival items and often times a place to call home.

Though counseling was her original passion and career path and she comes from a family of educators, Mrs. Banda felt that she needed to do more within the educational system. This choice led her to teaching. Being a product of bilingual education, a child of a bilingual home and working in the educational system Banda knew she wanted to help bridge the gap between language barriers, newcomers, and low-income families. This passion drove her to enroll into the graduate program at UNT Dallas in 2017 where she graduated with her Master’s in Educational Leadership.

Education and bilingualism have always been taught to be the keys to success within her family and she strives to instill that love for learning and resilience to her students in hopes to create the future leaders of tomorrow. Her favorite quote to live by, “The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” -Mark Twain
