Mr. Stephen Womack

I was born and raised in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas, and am a proud product of Dallas ISD.  In 1987, I graduated from the Magnet Center for Government and Law, now known as the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet.

After graduating from high school, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement, and in December of 1988, at the age of 19, I began what would be a very long and gratifying career in the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.  I started my career as a Detentions Service Officer, working within the jail system, until I was able to promote into the sworn ranks, achieving the rank of Deputy Sheriff in 1992.  During my career, I was very fortunate to have worked within a variety of units as a Deputy Sheriff and Detective.  I promoted through the ranks, and on July 31, 2019, I retired from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department at the rank of Captain, after thirty years and eight months of service.  The following day, I reported to the Dallas ISD New Teacher Academy, as I am proudly joining the staff here at the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet as a law enforcement teacher.

It is an honor and a privilege to be joining this program as a teacher, as it certainly created within me, the confidence and ambition I needed to pursue my goals and succeed.  I look forward to playing a role in the teaching, coaching and mentoring of our wonderful students, as they explore their own career goals over the next several years.
