In our second year of partnership with Disney Musicals in Schools, our school will present Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS. Audition is required. The production will be mid-Spring.
Vex IQ Robotics
Coach: Ms. Seagroves, Ms. Hernandez
In robotics, students will build robots to compete in 60 second long Teamwork Challenge, autonomous Robot Skills Challenge, and Driver Skills Challenge.

This program promotes the love, appreciation, and knowledge of classical music through in-depth study of composer’s lives and their music. The team will work toward participating in a district-wide listening contest in which they identify music selections.

The Journalism club empowers Solar girls to use a variety of media to explore the world around them and understand different cultures, ideas and events. We'll learn about women in journalism, careers and opportunities, the history of journalism and more.
Coach: Ms. Garcia
Students will learn about ceramic and sculpture techniques.. They will have practice throwing clay on a potter's wheel, building a pinch pot, and coil-building. The end-of-semester project will be a fully-realized ceramic work of art.
Lone Star Challenge
Coach: Ms. Seagroves
Lone Star Challenge is the elementary competition equivalent to Academic Decathlon and Academic Pentathlon. Lone Star is a theme-based four-event scholastic team competition wherein Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade students match their intellect with students from other schools. Nine-member teams are comprised of: 3 fourth grade students; 3 fifth grade students; and 3 sixth grade students.

The Dallas Tennis & Education Academy provides scholars with the basic fundamentals in a fun and competitive environment.

Students will experiment with numerous writing exercises to release their creative voice. Students may work on poetry, playwriting, spoken word and short stories.

Learn Spanish through novels, games, songs and more. Learn from professional educators with 10+ years of experience. The goal is conversation through fun and games!
Girls on the Run
Coach: Ms. Castillo, Ms. Flanigan
GOTR is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

The DI program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters scholars’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEAM and service learning. There are two competitions in the Spring.

The district chess program provides students the opportunity to showcase their problem-solving and critical thinking skills at chess tournaments and UIL Chess Puzzle competitions.

In TMSCA, students compete in UIL math and science contests through grade level team competitions, including Number Sense, calculator applications, mathematics, and science.

The yearbook club will be focused on creating our 2019-2020 school yearbook. They will explore design software and photography.
The Green Team

Our mission is to help our Earth by practicing sustainable actions, whether that's picking up recycling from each classroom, helping compost in our school garden, or creating reusable goods to use at home or at school!

The Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico is dedicated to helping students strengthen their academic performance, while motivating them to think, learn and express themselves. This is accomplished through the direct and specialized instruction offered by our dance program.
