I started in the education field 30 years ago. I have worked in different areas such Special Education, Head Start among others but Montessori is my passion.

I have been a Montessori Guide for over 20 years. I trained in Lower Elementary (6-9) at The Center of Montessori Education (CMTE) in New York. I also had worked in Children House (3-6) and Infant and Toddler (1 ½-3) Programs. I was founding partner of Montessori del Sol School in Puerto Rico. I have five years teaching Montessori in a public sector at Dallas ISD.

Comencé en el campo de la educación hace más de 30 años. He trabajado en diferentes áreas tales como Educación Especial, Head Start entre otros pero la Filosofía Montessori es mi pasión. He sido guía Montessori por más de 20 años. Me adiestré en el nivel de Elemental I (6-9) en el Centro para la Educación Montessori ( CMTE ) en Nueva York. También he trabajado en los niveles de Casa de Niños (3-6) e Infantes (1 ½-3). Fui social fundadora de la escuela Montessori del Sol en Puerto Rico. Llevo cinco años enseñando en Montessori en el sistema de educación pública con el Departamento Independiente de Dallas ( DISD).

Francisco J. Morales Folch

My professional goal is promote learning and critical thinking in multicultural settings. I have a MA in Social Science Education and Graduate Diploma in Peace Studies and a BA in International Relations. For over two decades I have enjoyed working in the field of Education. I hold Bilingual Elementary EC-6 and Spanish EC-12 teacher certifications, and I am currently on my way to be an AMI certified Montessori 6-12 teacher. I think and love in Spanish, French, English and Catalan, but I am also fluent at understanding the language of nature and music.

Heidy M. Gonzalez Crespo

Lower Elementary

Heidy M. Gonzalez was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Texas in 2015 to pursue teaching. She started her career in Longview ISD and has been serving Dallas ISD as a Lower Elementary teacher at Downtown Montessori since 2020. Heidy completed her BA in French in 2010 at the University of Puerto Rico and has over 30 graduate credits in the field of Translation. In 2019, she completed her Montessori internship and was awarded by Southwestern Montessori Training Center her Montessori certification to teach ages 6-9. Heidy is also certified by the state of Texas to teach Bilingual and General Education from Early Childhood through 6th grade. She has taught first grade, first and second grade in a Montessori setting, and third grade. Before transitioning to education, Heidy was a proofreader at a newspaper in Puerto Rico. Her passions are translation, editing, the study of language, and teaching Montessori.

Heidy M. González es oriunda de Puerto Rico y se mudó a Texas en el 2015 para convertirse en maestra. Comenzó su carrera en el distrito de Longview y ha servido a la comunidad de Dallas ISD como maestra de Elemental I en Downtown Montessori desde el 2020. Heidy completó sus estudios subgraduados en Francés en la Universidad de Puerto Rico y tiene más de 30 créditos graduados en el área de Traducción. En el 2019 completó su internado en educación Montessori y la institución Southwestern Montessori Training Center la certificó para enseñar Montessori a niños de 6 a 9 años. Heidy también está certificada por el estado de Texas para enseñar educacion general y bilingüe desde preescolar hasta sexto grado. Ha enseñado primer grado, primer y segundo grado en el entorno Montessori y tercer grado. Antes de entrar al campo de la educación, Heidy trabajó como correctora en un periódico en Puerto Rico. Le apasiona la traducción, la edición, el estudio del lenguaje y enseñar Montessori.

Iman R. Thompson

Lower Elementary

In 2012, Iman graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies while simultaneously, earning her teaching credentials. Upon graduation, Iman became a Kindergarten teacher in the Dallas Independent School District.  For the last 7 years, she has served students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade. Iman is currently earning Blended Primary Montessori teaching credentials from the Montessori Institute of North Texas and is excited to begin her 8th year as a Primary Teacher at Downtown Montessori at Ida B. Wells Academy.

Margaret E. Maki Rowland

Lower Elementary

Margaret Maki-Rowland received both her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Baylor University. She completed her AMS Montessori Lower Elementary certification through a joint program with Baylor University and Houston Montessori Center. She began her teaching career in a Montessori classroom and has enjoyed teaching Montessori as well as traditional curriculums in Waco ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and Highland Park ISD before joining the Dallas ISD team. Margaret has taught prek3-6th grade spanning fourteen years in the public sector and four years in the private sector as well as serving as the assistant director at Sundance Downtown Montessori School of Fort Worth. She has also enjoyed working with the alternative certification program Teach Worthy supervising student teachers over the years. She holds the following state certificates: Early Childhood PreK-6th grade, Elementary Education PreK-6th grade, English as a Second Language Supplemental, and Early Childhood-12th grade Art. She was honored with teacher of the year in three previous districts. Margaret lives in Richardson with her husband and four-year-old son. She enjoys watercolor painting and loves all things science related. Teaching curiosity and a love of learning through individualized instruction are her top goals for every student.

Elma Rios

Montessori Facilitator

Elma Rios has enjoyed working and engaging with children for twenty-five highly successful years as a Montessori teacher in both public and private sectors. Throughout this time, she served as an American Montessori Society Consultant mentoring teachers and aligning state standards with Montessori curriculum in Texas, Washington, and South Carolina.  Additionally, she has helped Montessori schools meet rigorous standards of quality Montessori education through AMS and IMC accreditation.  Ms. Rios holds AMS Elementary I & II certification, Lifetime State of Texas Elementary General Education certification (K-8th grades) and Biology teaching certification (6th-12th grades), as well as a biology degree with focus in immunology and cellular biology.
