Dionne Johnson is a native of New Orleans, but she has been a Texan for almost 16 years. She has received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master's in Business Administration. Before starting her career in education, she worked in the insurance industry as a sales agent and an automobile claims adjuster, but her desire to make an impact on the lives of others led her to pursue a career in teaching. After teaching high school English for 11 years, she recognized a need to foster the social and emotional health of students and identified how necessary this was to promote their optimum academic performance and overall achievement. This propelled her to pursue a career in school counseling where she could partner with administrators, teachers, and parents to advocate for student success while servicing the whole student. In her spare time, she enjoys watching documentaries, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends.
