Opera Workshop
Audra Scott, DirectorThe Opera Workshop promotes an understanding of opera selections among young singers as well as sharing talents though classical vocal music. This is a performance driven class. How better to hone the craft than to actually do it? We perform full length operas, and sing them in their composed language. If there is dialogue or Sprechstimme, students are assigned the task of rewriting the dialogue to fit the era in which we have chosen to set the opera that year.
Productions are fully staged, costumed and directed by a student director under the faculty Director's supervision. The faculty Director conducts the singers and orchestra.
The production budget is generated from performance ticket sales, so it is important for us to stage and produce excellent operas of high quality for educational and financial benefits.
