Mrs. Nemisha Bhakta

Mrs. Nemisha Bhakta loves advocating for and working with young adults as they navigate through high school and begin planning for the next steps in their lives.  She earned her bachelor's degree in Literary Studies and teaching certification from The University of Texas at Dallas and then later went back to school to earn her master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Nemisha has served the Dallas Independent School District for 14 years. She began her instructional leadership experience at Emmett J. Conrad High School in the Vickery Meadows neighborhood of North Dallas where she taught English and later became an Instructional Coach. In 2014, Nemisha was selected for the district's esteemed Principal Fellows Leadership Development Program. Thereafter, Nemisha served as an Assistant/Associate Principal at Woodrow Wilson High School in the Lakewood area from 2015-2019 where she implemented several instructional initiatives within the English and Social Studies department and yielded turn around achievement data. Prior to joining the Townview team, Nemisha spent a year establishing and developing the academic program for both high school and collegiate pathways at North Lake Early College High School as a founding faculty member.

As a teacher, Nemisha sponsored several organizations, one of which was founding the Student Council at Emmett J. Conrad HS. Sponsoring this organization instilled her passion for advocating for students beyond the classroom. After years of taking students to leadership workshops all over Texas, exposing them to different experiences and people of all backgrounds and cultures, and mentoring them throughout their college years and eventually their careers, Nemisha learned that a holistic approach to adolescent development is just as critical as academic growth. She now works to ensure that all students, regardless of economic background, are allowed experiences that will prepare them for life beyond their high school years.

During her free time, Nemisha enjoys reading, gardening, and frequently traveling the globe with her wonderful husband.
