Students at the Career Institute East gain a wide array of knowledge to prepare them to enter the workforce with a competitive edge.  They begin their journey by selecting one of our eight pathways: construction, cybersecurity, electrical, heating-ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), interior design, patient care technician, pharmaceutical technician, and plumbing.  While attending core classes on their home campus, they will study their field, attain industry-standard certifications, and conclude with a practicum to enter the workforce or use their skill-set to support their college education. Review the different pathways below by selecting the icons for additional information.

This pathway is an introduction to the carpentry trade and its application as a career in the construction industry.  Basic building materials and construction methods are thoroughly covered in preparation for the program’s projects. Classroom emphasis is on construction-related math, reading, and interpretation of both commercial and residential plans and blueprints, applicable building codes, building layout, and sustainable green construction methods. Each course has a laboratory component that applies classroom curriculum to assigned shop projects, includes appropriate local field trips, and begins site preparation and layout for the fall and spring semester’s class projects.
