What is CORE 4?
Core 4 is the collection of tenets that define the customer service culture that informs all interactions Dallas ISD employees have with students, families, community members and each other.

How are the Core 4 culture tenets connected to the district’s priorities?
The culture tenets are anchored in the district’s focus on racial equity and cultural responsiveness, comprehensive accountability, responsible use of resources, and collaboration while reaffirming our commitment to delivering professional, high-quality service to all stakeholders, internal and external.

Who developed the cultural tenets?
The Core 4 culture tenets have been used by the district for some time. This new focus and emphasis on those tenets as well as the rubric to help employees better define how well they are applying them to their daily work were developed by a diverse group of district staff that serve on the Recruitment and Retention Committee.

Why is a rubric now part of Core 4?
While the district has always expected every employee to provide high-quality customer service, the new rubric provides a measured and consistent across the district. This is a learning opportunity for all employees as we strive to exceed expectations.

What is the role of the culture tenets ambassadors?
Ambassadors are part of the district’s strategy to ensure that all employees are familiar with the Core 4 culture tenets, how they are measured and how they apply to their everyday work. The ambassadors are the experts on Core 4 for their departments and campuses and a resource for employees as the work of implementing the culture tenets and rubric standards continues.

How are training sessions being conducted?
Each ambassador has been trained to conduct sessions to share the information and encourage discussion within his or her department or school. All trainings will be held virtually in compliance with district guidelines.

Is this training considered mandatory?
All employees are expected to attend a training and complete the follow up questionnaire in Cornerstone. Ambassadors have been given a breakdown of when staff is expected to be trained.

How will training completion be tracked?
Each employee will complete a questionnaire available in Cornerstone at the end of the training session.

How long is the training?
The training should last about an hour.

Will ambassadors receive a stipend for serving in this role?
There is no stipend being offered for serving as an ambassador.

What if I need training in Spanish?
The district will be hosting virtual sessions throughout the year in Spanish. Refer to the districtwide datebook and the Core 4 calendar for dates and times.
