Piano Arts Academy
Thank you for your interest in the Greiner Piano Department! I am very excited about beginning my eighth year as the director of piano studies here at Greiner!! I grew up in Dallas schools, graduating from Skyline High School, and then going on to earn a music education degree from the University of North Texas with a concentration on piano. I have had over 35 years of experience in music education and have recently completed my master's degree in secondary education. My husband and I are the proud parents of two sons, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, and one son-in-law! We also have four beautiful granddaughters!!
There are several core beliefs about music education that are evident in everything we do in the piano program and are best described by the following acrostic:
P ride
I ntegrity
A rtistry
k N owledge
O wnership
The piano program at Greiner is a 3-year foundational curriculum consisting of music theory instruction, sightreading practice, technique exercises, as well as group and individual practice of music we are currently learning. Throughout the year, we will have several opportunities for students to perform solos and ensembles, giving them the opportunity to gain confidence and performance experience.
