Welcome to the Spartan Social Studies Department!
The great WWII leader, Winston Churchill once said, “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” The Samuell Social Studies Department is structured to study mankind and its interaction throughout time. From Freshman-level World Geography to Senior-level Government/Economics, students will examine the human condition and how it interacts within its species and with Mother Nature. Students will learn how different civilizations developed, functioned, and made huge impacts on humanity. With the study of real primary documents, including maps, graphs, diaries, and newspapers, students will delve further into what makes mankind tick and the effects of man’s decisions.
Our ultimate goal in the Social Studies department is to give students the opportunity to learn the process of development within a culture, reflect on how that affects their own personal story, and become global citizens who will lead future generations.
