Mr. Jonatan Cruz

I am excited to begin my sixth year of teaching at the School for the Talented and Gifted in Pleasant Grove. I will be teaching Spanish and English Reading Language Arts to our 6th and 7th grade owls!

As a first-generation college student in my family, I have experienced both the challenges and the greatness of having an open mind to new possibilities, opportunities, cultures, and languages. While studying at the University of Puerto Rico, I had the opportunity to participate in conferences and seminars at the University of Ghana in Accra, the University of Malta at Valletta, and the University of Lisbon in Portugal. I completed my Teacher Certification Program at Mountain View Community College. During my years in Dallas ISD, I have also worked with the Dual Language/ESL, Evaluation & Assessment, and Teaching & Learning Departments.

As a proud speaker of Spanish, English, and Portuguese, I enter my classroom every day with enthusiasm, because I relate and understand my role and responsibility in being an essential part of my students’ journey to becoming well-rounded bilingual citizens and its value moving forward into their bright future. I believe we all have the collective power of transformation. Progress and positive change happen when we grow and use the tools we have and put them into work to make a positive impact.

I am honored and committed to continue collaborating with the STAG in PG school community, teachers, and leadership teams to grow students into bilingual, bilateral, and bicultural leaders!
