  • Welcome to Dallas ISD! The Journey Starts Here with New Teacher Academy (NTA) for all teachers, librarians, media specialists, and campus instructional coaches new to their roles or new to the district. Employees on a 191-day contract are required to attend NTA. Employees should not report to work until cleared by the Staffing team.

    WHO ATTENDS NEW TEACHER ACADEMY?*


     The following groups of new hires are expected to attend NTA:
    • Newly hired 2023-2024 school year teachers, media specialists, librarians, and campus instructional coaches who completed their hiring appointment with a Staffing Specialist
    • Current 2022-2023 school year teachers who started teaching on or after January 5, 2023, must attend NTA

    *Campuses under some specialized programs may have alternate concurrent training; teachers in these programs should follow the direction of their school administration team on which events to attend.

    Curriculum Training with Teaching & Learning 

    (Location: Ann Richards STEAM Academy)

    New teachers cleared for work should report to Ann Richards STEAM Academy by 8 AM.

    August 2, 2023

    9 AM - 12 Noon 

    Districtwide Sendoff 

    (Location: Winspear Opera House)

    New teachers cleared for work should report to the Winspear Opera House by 9 AM once cleared by the Staffing team.

    1 PM - 3 PM

    DOI & Novice Teachers (0 - 2 CYS): DOI & Novice Teacher Training 

    (Location: Winspear Opera House)

    Teachers with fewer than 2 complete years of credible teaching experience in Texas are required to stay for additional training on Professionalism in the Classroom and Creating Calm in the Classroom.

    Experienced Teachers (3+ CYS): Release to Campus & Asynchronous Orientation for New Employees 

    (Location: At the new teacher’s campus)

    Teachers with 3+ years of credible teaching experience in Texas may report to their campus for the afternoon as instructed by their school administration team.

Next Steps


  • Step 1

     

    Attend your Hiring Appointment with your Staffing Specialist.  Once cleared for hire, you'll receive an invitation to pick up a computing device and activate your credentials. Your Staffing Specialist must complete all steps of your hiring process in order for you to receive an invitation.

    Step 2

     

    Register for New Teacher Academy (NTA) and your Laptop Pickup Session. You'll receive an email from NewTeachers@DallasISD.org within a week after your Staffing Specialist completes your hiring process. This is not always the same day you attend your Hiring Appointment.

    Step 3

     

    Check your personal email for information and logistics on your scheduled New Teacher Academy the week of the event.

  • Here are some items you'll want to keep in mind:

    • Make sure Dallas ISD has your updated personal email address. We'll send communication to the address you used to apply for your position until your first day on staff.
    • Be sure to check your email account (including junk/spam folders) for messages from NewTeachers@DallasISD.org
    • To learn more about the Onboarding & Retention Team, visit DallasISD.org/Onboarding.
    • To learn more about Professional & Digital Learning, visit DallasISD.org/PDL.
    • You MUST complete your Hiring Appointment and be placed as Hire-Hired by the HCM Staffing team to receive an invitation to New Teacher Academy.
    • Once placed into Hire-Hired status, new teachers will be urged to register for New Teacher Academy.
