Texas Educator's Certificate Educational Aide ELAR 4-8 ESL

Zaneta Williams

I began as a DISD substitute teacher in 1990. After serving as a long-term substitute teacher, and teacher's assistant, I moved to FL and began my teacher certification process. I taught high school (9-12) English in Sunrise, FL.

After relocating to Dallas in 2008, I began teaching Language Arts and Reading to 8th grade students at Maynard Jackson Middle School. I then taught 6th grade Reading at W.E. Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy. While there, I participated in the Bill and Melinda Gates MET (Measuring Effective Teachers) program, which led me to partner with VIVA, a teacher voice group. I was chosen to partner with other teachers and present an educational report to the Director of Education for the Gates Foundation, Vicki Philips, and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s (President Obama’s administration) senior staff in 2014. I was also asked to participate in the Future Leaders Program in September of 2013, which was a mentoring and tutoring initiative that assisted students in grades 5-12 in their quest to attend college after graduation.

I also taught in private school settings, and overseas.
