Assistant Principal Kim Ashmore joins the Marcus Leadership Academy with over 16 years of educational experience. Ms. Ashmore has been advocating for the equity of instruction for students since the beginning of her educational career and continues to fight to ensure that ALL students have equitable access to quality education.
Ms. Ashmore started in Dallas ISD in 2006 through the Dallas ISD alternative certification program after working with a Neuropsychologist in Dallas. She relocated to Dallas from the Midwest and has continued to make Dallas her home for the past 18 plus years. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Pre-Med Major and Ethnic Studies Minor and proceeded to go on to complete two Master’s degrees in education, one in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and the other from SMU in Urban Leadership.
Ms. Ashmore spent 14 years of her educational career at Tom C. Gooch Elementary as a Teacher, Academic Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and Principal. She implemented the two-way dual language program, increased enrollment exponentially, launched a successful autism program, and left the school with a rating of “met standard” with all six academic distinctions. She began working at Herbert Marcus Elementary in 2019 as the Campus Instructional Coach and was promoted in 2021 to Assistant Principal where she is looking forward to bringing her expertise to Marcus Leadership Academy!
Ms. Ashmore is a devoted biological and foster mother to her children. Her mantra is “education is the ONE thing that no one can take away from you, once you have it, you have it for life!”
