(CLICK HERE for Newsletter) Conrad JROTC Charger Battalion JCLC SY 22-23 Cadet Summer Camp 2023
Greetings, Conrad Family!
JROTC Summer Camp is over! The Conrad JROTC Charger Battalion had six Cadets (Yania Chavez, Kaderon Williams, Leonardo Hernandez, Samara Cordero, Brandon Quintero, and Fatima Vega) that completed JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp. We are so proud of them, and you should be too! The camp was at Paul Quinn College from 30 May-04 June, and most outdoor team-building events were at Trinity Adventure Park. The students stayed in the dorms and traveled to Trinity Adventure Park to participate in several outdoor team-building events. These students/cadets had the opportunity to participate in ziplining, water survival, obstacle courses, orienteering, archery, and STEM-related events (robotics and drones) that promoted teamwork, attention to detail, and a high degree of motivation. They were also evaluated on their leadership skills, communication, teamwork, motivation, and verbal/written skills. The DISD High School JROTC Program has 23 Schools in the District with JROTC Programs (22 Army JROTC, 1 Navy JROTC, and 1 Marine Corps JROTC. The top performance award is given to the top 4 schools that have performed the best in the following competitive events throughout the year: Physical Fitness Cadet Challenge Competition (Male and Female Teams); Marksmanship Competition; Color Guard Competition (Male, Female, and Mixed Teams); Drill Team Competition (Unarmed); Orienteering-Land Navigation Competition. Each school is awarded points for their performance and ranking in each event, and the top four schools are awarded trophies at the end of the school year. This year Conrad achieved 4th place, and this is the first time in the school’s history that the program has ever placed in the top four! The Conrad JROTC Charger Battalion wants to thank the Conrad family for your support this year; we will continue moving onward and upward!
I have attached a link that will provide you with a more detailed overview of the camp; the bottom two links are a newsletter and video on the entire JCLC Leadership Camp (Provided by the DISD JROTC Public Affairs).
