Laura Guzman leads with a passion for empowering students and serving her community. She grew up attending Fannie C. Harris. Mt. Auburn, J.L. long, and Woodrow Wilson High School in South and East Dallas. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Finance from Southern Methodist University and furthered her education at Texas A&M Commerce by earning a master's degree in Educational leadership. Guzman enjoys spending time with her three beautiful children, traveling and having dinner dates with her loving partner. She values family time with her parents and nine siblings. As a first-generation college student, and the daughter of Mexican immigrant parents, her personal background and experience have shaped her understanding of the importance of education for every student.
Before beginning a career in education, she gained real-world experience during her two years in a corporate environment, fostering skills she later incorporated into her teaching career. With thirteen years of service in education, Guzman's journey began as a Spanish Teacher at Skyline High School where she continued to grow and lead departments such as Magnet Programs and the Dual Credit Coordinator.
Her dedication and expertise led to her first leadership position as an Assistant Principal at L.G. Pinkston High School 7-12. There she played a vital role in the early stages of the school's development. She successfully led the Math, CTE, and Fine Arts teams to strengthen instruction and teamwork. Ms. Guzman also launched innovative programs like the NAF Academy of IT and Finance, providing students with valuable opportunities to explore these careers.
Laura Guzman is honored to serve the proud West Dallas community, where her vision is to create a joyful learning environment that encourages students to embrace their unique gifts and excel academically. She looks forward to guiding and inspiring young minds at the new West Dallas Middle School.
