PSO conducts its investigations in accordance with the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and will generally conform to AWI Guiding Principles and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Code of Ethics.  The PSO coordinates efforts with Dallas ISD Office of Internal Audit, District and local law enforcement agencies, and Child Protective Services (CPS) as appropriate.

While PSO investigates allegations of employee misconduct, it does not make recommendations for disciplinary action. The investigations, however, will have one of four outcomes when the findings are reported. The outcomes are as follows:

Substantiated - Objective data or other proof of evidence supports the claim.

Reason to Believe - Based on the knowledge, skill, experience and general situation, the investigator has a reasonable belief that the complained of allegation has occurred.

Unsubstantiated - There is no proof, or there is insufficient proof, to support the claim.

Inconclusive - The facts presented and/or uncovered do not lead to a conclusion.

The reports of the investigation, including the outcome, are forwarded to the Employee Relations Department, which works with management to facilitate appropriate remediation.

PSO is delegated by policy to handle two types of investigations:

    Administrator's Investigations

    Formal Investigations
