While I grew up in Dallas, I lived the last 18 years in Portland, Oregon. I started my career in education there 15 years ago. I moved back last summer to support my aging mom. Outside of school, I am an avid gardener. I had a small flower farm in Portland. My partner and I see as much art as we can. While I like to sew, I am currently focused on quilting and needlepoint as my sewing outlet. I also play TTRPG’s like Dungeons and Dragons. I keep myself in check by lifting weights several times a week.

When I was your age, I was in Huntington Beach, California, and my favorite class was band. I was a band nerd. In college, I studied architecture and graduated from Texas A&M in 1994. I entered the workforce when I graduated, working for many different architecture firms. I’ve worked on churches, DART stations, warehouses, data centers, houses, and offices. I’m a teacher, and I have been since 2018. I’m still an architect, but I’m also a teacher. I’m very thankful that I get to work with students. You make my life better.

Hey scientists! One key thing about me is that I love God and I try to exude joy wherever I go. To me, science and God go together. Nature is so full of wonder.
My love for science started when my dad brought home a white and brown spotted bunny. I was scared of it then, but now I love all things animals! I love being able to explain the difficulties of science in the most exciting but simple way. I am the science teacher that will dress fancy with heels underneath my lab coat! I love to show people that you can break stereotypes and be who you were created to be.
