Construcción y Carpintería

Este programa de estudio es una introducción a la carpintería y su aplicación como profesión en la industria de la construcción. Los materiales de construcción básicos y los métodos de construcción se tratan a fondo como preparación para los proyectos del programa. El énfasis del salón de clases está en las matemáticas relacionadas con la construcción, la lectura y la interpretación de planos comerciales y residenciales, los códigos de construcción aplicables, la distribución de los edificios y los métodos de construcción ecológica sostenible. Cada curso tiene un componente de laboratorio que aplica el plan de estudios del aula a los proyectos de taller, incluye excursiones locales apropiadas y comienza la preparación y el diseño del sitio para los proyectos de clase del semestre de otoño y primavera.

La práctica incluye una pasantía no remunerada en la escuela o una pasantía remunerada fuera de la escuela con un socio de la industria donde el estudiante puede comenzar a acumular experiencia en el mundo real.

El programa de estudio de Construcción y Carpintería está actualmente disponible y abierto para la inscripción en Career Institute East, Career Institute North y Career Institute South.

Construction and Carpentry [Architecture and Construction Cluster]
This program of study is an introduction to the carpentry trade and its application as a career in the construction industry. Basic building materials and construction methods are thoroughly covered in preparation for the program’s projects. Classroom emphasis is on construction-related math, reading and interpretation of both commercial and residential plans and blueprints, applicable building codes, building layout and sustainable green construction methods. Each course has a laboratory component that applies classroom curriculum to assigned shop projects, includes appropriate local field trips, and begins site preparation and layout for the fall and spring semester’s class projects. The practicum includes a non-paid, campus-based internship, or a paid off-campus apprenticeship with an industry partner where the student can begin earning real-world experience. The Construction and Carpentry program of study is currently available and open for enrollment at Career Institute East, Career Institute North and Career Institute South.
