The Dental Assistant program of study is designed to introduce secondary students to the field of dentistry and related topics. Students will be able to identify dental related career pathways; explain dental legal and ethical responsibilities; recognize professional healthcare behavior and demeanor; and perform routine dental office procedures. The purpose of this program is to prepare secondary students for a future career in dentistry as a Registered Dental Assistant.

The practicum courses are designed to give students supervised practical application of knowledge and skills. Practicum experiences can occur as internships, mentorships, independent study, or laboratories. The practicum can either be school-lab-based or work-based. Students will be provided opportunities to obtain up to five certifications.
